Major project to upgrade Te Mata Park’s water infrastructure
A project to improve Te Mata Park’s water and effluent infrastructure will begin on Monday 4 December. The project will connect the Park and Peak House to the Hastings District Council water and effluent infrastructure.
Work will commence at the Tauroa Road entrance to the park, with the installation of a new water tank and new pipework connecting to services already in place at the Main Gates. From the Main Gates, pipework will be laid up to Peak House and on up to the saddle, where one of the two existing water tanks will be replaced.
The Park currently relies on ageing infrastructure for both water and effluent that is no longer fit for purpose and is costly to repair. The new project will significantly improve the reliability and efficiency of the water and effluent infrastructure in the Park, benefitting all visitors.
The project, jointly funded by Hastings District Council and Te Mata Park Trust, will be carried out by Effluent Management Systems Ltd and Harris Pumps & Filtration, and is scheduled to be completed by Christmas.
The Park will remain open throughout the project which will have minimal impact on visitors. Please follow our social media pages for project updates.
