Chambers Walk Closure – starting 8 April
Work starting on Monday the 8th of April will temporarily close access to Te Mata Park from Tauroa Rd, as well as some tracks.
Major tree work will close the Tauroa Road access to the Park, as well as a small number of walking and mountain biking tracks, for approximately 1-2 weeks from Monday 8th April.
In November last year we removed a selection of poplar trees along lower Chambers Walk that were deemed a risk to public safety. Since then, we have had poplar branches drop on trails, with a member of the public being injured by a falling branch. For the safety of all Park users, the Trust has decided to remove the remaining poplars along lower Chambers Walk and Tamariki Ako, the children’s mountain biking track.
We apologise for the inconvenience this closure will cause. Our arborists will be working as quickly as possible, and we will post updates throughout the week on our social media pages, website, and signage in the Park.
