Chambers Walk closure – 20 Nov to 3 Dec
Major tree work will close the Tauroa Road entry to Te Mata Park, including access via lower Chambers Walk and Tipuna Footstep, from 20 November to 3 December. Te Kahika mountain bike track will also be closed.
For the safety of all Park users, the Trust has agreed to remove a selection of large poplar trees that line lower Chambers Walk following assessments by independent arborists, all of which recommend the trees be felled for safety reasons.
We are aware that the trees provide welcome shade along this well-trodden entrance to the Park, however the safety of Park users is our primary concern. This area will be replanted with natives in the next planting season, mid next year.
We apologise for the inconvenience this closure will cause. Our arborists will be working as quickly as possible, and we will post updates throughout the week on our social media pages and website.
