Getting to Te Mata Park

The Park is located South East of Havelock North. Approx 10mins and 5km drive.

The Main Gates Car Park and the upper section of Te Mata Peak Road above the Peak House are closed to vehicles from 10pm to 5.30am every day.

The Tauroa Road car park extension is closed between 9pm and 7am daily and we ask park users to consider local residents in terms of noise, especially early in the morning.

Driving Directions

DIRECTIONS / ACCESS

Main Gate Car Park

Please note that the Main Gates are closed on Te Mata Peak Road (beyond Peak House) at 10.00pm daily, and re-opened at 5.30am.

Directions from Havelock North to the Summit and Park Gates
Take Te Mata Road from Village centre for 1.5km
At Hereworth Boys School turn right onto Simla Avenue for 1km
Turn left onto Te Mata Peak Road for approx. 3km
Toilets and picnic tables are located at the Main Gates Car Park

Tauroa Road Car Park

The Tauroa Road car park extension is closed between 9pm and 7am daily and we ask park users to consider local residents in terms of noise, especially early in the morning.

Directions from Havelock North to the Lower Entrance to the Park 3.5km
Take Te Mata Road from Village and take first right into Duart Road
Drive 1km and turn veer left into Tauroa Road for 2km to the carpark.
Toilets are located at this car park
