Wet & Windy Clean Up Campaign

September 21, 2015

A seriously big thank you to the valiant band of volunteers who turned up yesterday morning in driving rain and clambered high up on the Peak to retrieve an impressive collection of rubbish that included over 200 tyres, 30+ road cones, a car door, microwave, bicycle, soccer and rugby balls, beer bottles, broken glass, traffic signs and a giant stuffed bear. We created consolidated piles of rubbish in a couple of spots on the lower slopes by the farm tracks and they’ll be cleared once the warmer weather kicks in and the ground dries out.  The Great Peak Pick up was organised and coordinated by the wonderful Wendy Beeke from Hastings District Council – she and her team are definitely making sure we Keep Hastings Beautiful! Thanks HDC and all those who gave up their Sunday morning to brave the elements and lend a hand.  Great Peak Pick Up Sep 2015
