Sheep Released in to Park

December 07, 2018

Please note that as of today, 7 December 2018, sheep have been released in to Te Mata Park.  They will be grazing for 14 days.

If you are dog owner, we ask you to be mindful of sheep both within the Park, and adjacent to it, on our neighbouring farms.
Dogs need to get out and have a good run off the lead, but it’s important to remember that sheep are a farmer’s livelihood. The consequences of sheep worrying can be very serious, so you must take precautions to make sure that you can enjoy a walk with your dog safely. Put your dog on a lead if you are uncertain. Thank you.

Mountain bikers, please note that there is a barrier partway along Te Kahu (descent) that prevents that sheep from escaping.  Just lift your bike over the top, and continue riding.

Thank you for your cooperation.
